Art In FLUX

Art In FLUX is an uptown arts initiative that creates opportunities for artists by reclaiming underutilized and unique spaces for art. Since its launch, Art in FLUX has popped up in vacant neighborhood retail spaces, city parks, schools, lobbies, and street corners, providing greater accessibility to the arts and connecting patrons and property owners with a diverse and dedicated group of artists in Harlem.

In just four years, Art in FLUX has expanded its scope and mission and has grown to include the FLUX Art Fair, an annual international art fair launched in May that presents both local and international artists in Manhattan timed to coincide with one of the City’s leading international art weeks.  FLUX Art Fair presented over forty public art projects in Garvey Park, Harlem Art Park, and Malcolm X Blvd in collaboration with the Parks Department and Department of Transportation’s Art Program.

Summer Break

Summer Break begs us not to forget, as we approach the summer holiday, what it means to be a student in America in 2018. Through installation, interactive works, 2D artworks, and performance, this exhibition examines issues that have broken the essence of effective, nurturing education.  Seven visual artists and a dozen spoke word artists present a variety of perspectives, some pulling from their days as young students and others as educators in the current environment.

Halstead Properties in collaboration with Art In FLUX and Coronado Studios presents a Spotlight Artist each month at their Harlem location along with their permanent collection of works by artists from Manhattan. Leys is featured through June with a series of prints.
