ECHOES FROM AFAR: A Time to Keep & A Time to Let Go, A dual exhibition, spread over two inter-connected spaces, illustrating the importance of past histories and conveying the vital significance of African traditions in the diaspora. Artists reveal the importance of the spiritual power of Africa by retaining elements of the traditional world and yet creating a new contemporary vision. Through visual art, film, photography, dance, and spoken word, artists proclaim a cultural heritage while they explore, celebrate, play, question, challenge or protest diverse issues.
In Art Enology artists transform wine bottles into visual artistic statements that simultaneously advance the aesthetic properties and possibilities of bottles; inspire a dialogue centered on historical and contemporary themes and concepts; and manifest environmental consciousness through the act of repurposing everyday material. These mixed medium works integrate wine bottles with a variety of predominantly found objects, photography, and new media.
