What are the possibilities and the limits of the artist to effect change through their medium? Do artists hope to trigger an emotion or a new consciousness and stimulate discussion? Is it the artist’s responsibility to transfer tradition from one generation to the next and conversely to shatter traditions when they are hurtful. Does this role make the artist a powerful force and spiritual guide or only a conduit?
