Harlem Properties is a boutique real estate firm led by President John McGuinness, an active Harlem resident with an affinity for the architectural history of Harlem. In November of 2015, he opened the firm’s newest location at 163 Lenox Avenue with an eye on enriching the neighborhood through collaboration with its vibrant artistic community. He partnered with Art in FLUX Harlem founder Leanne Stella to launch an art gallery in the front of the office with the exhibit, “, planning to present four exhibitions each year, to be curated by Stella and FLUX. The art gallery introduces his clients to the fabric of Harlem while offering Harlem artists the opportunity to meet potential collectors.
"Dreamers", the first in an ongoing series of quarterly exhibitions produced in collaboration with Harlem Properties, is dedicated to celebrating the artistic soul of the community. Featuring paintings, photography and sculpture by Gregory Saint Amand, Jordan Baker-Caldwell, Michael Kelly Williams, Ming Smith, Roddy Wildeman, Stan Squirewell, and Stefano Di Cicco, the exhibition epitomizes Harlem’s creative multi-media art scene. "Dreamers" explores the dichotomy between harmony and cacphony, joy and sadness, love and loss. In curating this particular exhibition. Art in FLUX founder, Leanne Stella, has chosen works that demonstrate a creative tension in their themes, narratives, and materials.
